My name is Zandra Rice Hawkins and I am running for Concord City Council Ward 10 in the upcoming special election on Tuesday, March 5, 2019.

I’m excited to run for City Council and have an opportunity to serve our community. Concord is the community my husband and I chose to buy our first home and raise our children. As a young professional working in the heart of downtown for the last 12 years, I am pleased by developments in the city that I believe will entice more interest in Concord. As a mother, I am eager to make sure our local parks and other area attractions stay updated and accessible to all. As a community member, I know that our city is only as strong as the public services that keep it running. Our families and small businesses deserve our best, including having enough first responders and equipment to keep our families and community safe.
Concord is on the right track. I support recent efforts by the City Council to attract more businesses to the area and expand our revenue base, invest in local neighborhood initiatives, protect our open spaces, and establish the goal of transitioning the city to 100 percent clean and renewable energy. It’s this long-term planning and vision that has made Concord a strong city over the years. As a City Councilor, I will work to support these efforts and keep a critical eye toward ensuring our investments and focus extend to all Concord neighborhoods.

Serving as the executive director for the last decade of a statewide non-profit based in Concord, I have extensive experience building and managing budgets, staff, programs, and government and community relations. I am proud to be endorsed by Executive Councilor Andru Volinsky, State Senator Dan Feltes, State Representative Katherine Rogers, and State Representative Christy Bartlett, and to have earned the endorsement of the Professional Firefighters of Concord Local 1045.
I believe that public service is about representing the best interests of your constituents and providing opportunities for each of us to more easily impact the policies that affect us each day. I would love an opportunity to meet you to discuss your concerns and share more about my issue platform. Please join us at one of our upcoming events, or feel to contact me at 892-2150 or votezandra@gmail with any questions, or to request a yard sign.
Thank you, and I hope I can count on your vote on Tuesday, March 5th!
In service,
Zandra Rice Hawkins for Concord City Council Ward 10
